Mr. Moren started his career as a graduate architect in Chicago, working for the Perkins and Will Partnership, designing medical schools, office buildings, and college campus master plans. While his concept for Vanderbilt Medical School master plan was not used initially, because it was such a departure from the norm, it soon became the main direction in future projects designed by the P & W Partnership and E. Todd Wheeler, Medical Consultants.

He began his own business prior to passing the Architectural Exam in Minnesota. The State Board of Registration used his design solution as a tutorial example in their orientation classes for the next five years.

Over the next 20 years he signed as Architect of Record on more than 500 projects in the Midwest. He began to contract out his services to larger Minneapolis architectural firms, in conceptual design, design development, and construction documents.

He worked with Wells Fargo Bank, reviewing all plans (Arch, HVAC, ACT,STRL) and construction documents on several high-rise projects in Minneapolis-St. Paul. While working with KKE Architects, he was responsible for site inspection and approving certificates of payments during construction for the Opus Buildings, and Carlson Twin Towers.

Richard worked with Wimberly, Allison, Tong and Goo Architects in Newport Beach, California as a Senior Designer in the late 80s, and there his projects shifted into the hospitality niche — primarily in the Pacific Rim. He then worked briefly in Wimberly's London office.

In 1993, he returned to the United States and began working primarily with casinos and destination resorts. Many of the projects have become world famous, and icons of the gaming and entertainment world — Bellagio in particular. Although completed in 1997, it still remains today as one of the top destinations in Las Vegas.

Between 1997 and 2003 Richard worked on several projects with/for his client Advent Communications & Entertainment (ACE) as Director of Design/Conceptulaist.

Richard collaborated with Eighth Wonder as the Director of Design and Architecture from 2005-2006, providing conceptual and overseeing architectural work on a $5.5-billion integrated resort intended for Sentosa Island, Singapore.

He has been consulting as Conceptualist and Art Director with W. Morris Architects. They are based in Nevada and California, working on a variety of Native American Casinos. The Cascades Casino and Resort in Tacoma, Washington, was the first project. It is a $200 million plus project designed with an Arts & Crafts Style based upon the work of Greene and Greene of Pasadena.

With his client, William Morris, Richard has been involved in cutting edge design of large ($12 billion) mixed use projects in California, Macau, and Korea, with ongoing projects consisting of master planning, and development of resorts and casinos. The total dollar value will exceed 20 billion.

In his free time, he creates a very special kind of pottery. Specifically, RAKU pottery, both hand-built and thrown, in a style reminiscent of the Japanese JOMON Dynasty (10,000 B.C. - 1500 A.D.). His work is presently shown in the Trios Gallery in the Cedros Design District in Solana Beach, CA, the Enchanted Gallery in Del Mar, CA, and Coronado Island Art & Frame Gallery, Coronado Island, CA.
